Aaliyah Dana Haaughton gained notoriety after she released her debut album Age Ain't Nothing More Than A Number in the year 1994. In the age group of 15, the album achieved Gold status. The collaboration was highly in the style of R. Kelly, and put the singer in the spotlight. In 1996 Jermaine Durpri and Timbaland collaborated to produce the second album of hers, One In A Million. The album included the song If Your Boyfriend only knew as the lead single one. Aaliyah became a well-known R&B artist after her album's release. Aaliyah was a part of the legendary martial artist Jet-Li in Romeo Must Die (2000), an action and romantic film. The role was offered to her following an interview with film producer Joel Silver at an awards ceremony. In 2002, she was able to appear in the horror film Queen of the Damned which was inspired by The Anne Rice novel. The Matrix Sequels was her first role in The Matrix Sequels. She has also been in The Matrix Reloaded (2003) as well as The Matrix Revolutions (2007). The artist has received four Grammy nominations in 1999 and 2003. She uses Aarti Man as well as Aarti Mahumdar for her official name. Her acting career began as a minor actor in TV and film performances, but her fame was growing in the late 2000s. Some of her most notable roles include Grey's Anatomy, Suits and Leverage. She has appeared in numerous commercials including Volvo's international car manufacturer. She lives within Los Angeles with her husband and daughter and is continuing to develop her acting profession.
