Jeanie Marie Buss (born Jeanie Marie Buss) is a famous American woman who is a businesswoman. She is the controlling owner of the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association and currently serves as its president. A California native Buss was raised in an upper class family. Jerry Buss was her father. Jerry Buss started out as a realty tycoon after which he later became the owner of the Lakers. After her parents divorced in 1972 and she started to feel emotionally abandoned. At the age 19 she was appointed the General Manager for the Los Angeles Strings, a professional tennis club. The team was later renamed the Los Angeles Blades, a professional team of roller hockey. She was president of the Great Western Forum before assuming the role of vice-president of the Lakers. Buss was the father of her deceased father in 2013, which is when the Lakers were passed down by her as well as five of her siblings through a trust. Each sibling had equally many votes. Buss assumed the role of the president for the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss has also been a partner in the ownership of Women of Wrestling (a Los Angeles-based pro-wrestling association).
